You can’t outrun what’s due for you, my darling

I'd tell my younger self
To not give away her love for free;
	It should be earned
	And she should keep in mind
	That no one has the right
	To belittle her experiences
	Just so that she can slot into their visions.

I'd tell her it's okay to
Let people go, it's okay to be selfish -

	Little girl, please don't hurt yourself over shallow people,
	Please don't let them ruin you, I beg you
	To let the pain wash away
	Instead of holding it captive within you.

Being family doesn't make you immune from betrayal,
Having the honour of being friends doesn't stop them being the fakest,
And often strangers will love you deeper
Than anyone you'll know
	And you know what, it's okay to accept that affection;
	It's where your roots will flourish
	And how you'll heal
	And let pretty thoughts blossom.

I'd tell you to unleash your
	Anger and sadness and bitterness and feelings of hopelessness
	Into beautiful pieces of art;
I'd tell you to play into the
	Fragile girl persona
	People rudely paint you with
	And subvert it into a power move.
I'd grant all your wishes
And wipe away your tears
And tell you to let your heart
	Chase what it really desires
		- Happiness at its purest.

Despite the warm vessel of love
You were, you're now aged beyond your years
And hold a sour view of the world;
You're surrounded by many but
Ever so lonely,
You've mastered the art
Of being self sufficient -
	Nobody needs you
	And more importantly
	You don’t need anyone.

You can't outrun what's due for you, my darling
So pay your respects and live a little
Or else you'll die without
Tasting the flavours of
The world, my love
	That's a bit of advice
	I wish someone had told me
	When I was alone and
		hurting.
